If a flower doesn’t bloom, do we blame the flower or the environment?


If you are the smartest person in the room, it leaves no opportunity for growth. To have continued growth one must change rooms. Pay attention to the keywords “change rooms”. Room is the continuous variable. If a person is not blossoming into

their full potential, adjust the environment to which they are used to. For example, if a student is failing a particular class, you may want to adjust the current environment by offering tutorials or a smaller classroom structure, maybe even a different teaching method. Notice that I didn’t say “throw the baby out with the bath water”. Plants do not die because their seed is bad. They die due to inadequate maintenance (sunlight, water, love, etc.).


The moral of this story is that there will come a time when you must shed the layers of your environment that are not contributing to your growth. For some, the shedding season may come around multiple times. Be ready.
