Laila
Yaass!!! The look on Jimmy’s face when he saw me in the hotel lobby was priceless. He looked so confused. I know he was probably wondering how and the hell did I know he was going to be at this hotel. Well, I have my sources and they shall be revealed in due time. I told his bitch ass that Christmas Eve was our anniversary and I’ll be damned if I spend it alone. If I can’t be alone with the one I love then neither can Shon. We’re just going to be one big happy family on this muthafuckin island.
“Hey James.” I said with a church hug.
“Happy anniversary.” I managed to whisper in his ear before pulling away.
“Hi Laila.” Jimmy said in a dry manner.
“Oh yeah. Everyone, this is my friend Samantha.” I introduced one of my buddies from work.
Samantha was actually born Sam Hollingsworth. He was currently in transition and preferred to be called she. Samantha stood 5”9’, but never let that stop her from through on some stilettos and giving the people life as she walked in a room. Samantha had a milk chocolate complexion so smooth and flawless that she never needed to wear foundation. To say she was born a man, she had curves for days and kept her hair long and straight. Oh and yes…it was all her hair. Samantha was gorgeous and that alone caused me to fear for her life. When Sam would transform into Samantha, she resembled a natural woman so much even straight guys were drawn into her. Depending on how she felt that night, sometimes she would be forth coming about her sexuality and sometimes she wouldn’t. She enjoyed that chase. What I will give her is the fact that she didn’t sleep around so those that were privilege enough to “spend quality time” with her, were fully aware that she was born a man. She despised guys that set out to turn straight guys out. She believed in getting her men willingly; not dishonestly. Not to mention, she loved her life and wasn’t about to lose it for a piece of ass.
“Yeah yall!” Samantha popped her lips.
Jimmy, Shon, and the kids said “hi” simultaneously.
“Ooohh ya’ll so cute with the matching clothes and what not.” Samantha gushed as she read the back of one of the kid’s shirts.
“Well, we hate to rush off, but we need to get checked in and start our day. Have a merry Christmas and a happy new year.” Jimmy said rolling his eyes and leading his family to the counter to check in.
“I will hook up with you soon Laila. Let me get situated first.” Shon waved Jimmy off.
“No problem love.” Laila smiled back though her eyes were burning with envy.
Samantha and I walked off giggling. We knew that the best was yet to come and we were about to make this a trip from hell for Jimmy’s punk ass. He promised me the world. Ok well maybe he promises were said right before he flooded my hot pocket with his love, but they were said none the less. He had my nose wide open and it was like he didn’t give a damn. I’m not with that. My only regret is that my soon to be ex-best friend is caught in the middle and doesn’t even realize it. I wish it way to eliminate her out of the equation so when I finally commit the ultimate revenge on his ass, she wouldn’t get caught by the cross fire. I’ll keep thinking on that one.
As we approached our room to change clothes and hit the beach, Samantha was already in beast mode. Her wheels never stopped spinning and that’s what I loved about her. She gave me the male and female perspective on stuff and didn’t sugar coat shit. Her first day at work we ran into each other in the kitchen area at work and her first words to me were, “Ooohh yasss!!! You better work those heels hunty!!” We’ve been vibing ever since. One night we decided to go out for drinks after work and I ended up telling her all my little problems. Normally, I don’t speak on my personal life because I don’t know who I can trust. But at this point in life, I’ve become the splitting image of the very same bitches that I despise so what did I have to loose.
“Okay so bitch, it’s your anniversary, right?” Samantha said rubbing her hands together.
“Yeah.” I responded slowly not sure where she was going with that.
“Well, let’s get the family together for dinner tonight. I saw a cute little band playing in the hotel resteraunt. I’m sure for the right price, they could arrange a lil sumthin sumthin special.” Samantha laughed.
I smiled. We knew that our minds were on the same wave link so no words needed to be exchanged after that. We changed and hit the beach. The weather was beautiful and I was soaking all in. The sun was kissing my skin just right that when I left the beach, I was perfectly golden. I called Shon on the way back to the room.
“Hey hun. I know that ya’ll are out here doing your family thing, but can we at least go to dinner tonight. It’s Christmas Eve and I want to spend at least one night of the vacation with ya’ll.” I begged.
“Sure girl. We can meet in the lobby around 7pm and go from there.” Shon answered even though she hadn’t spoken with James yet.
“Ok. Great.” I quickly responded before she could change her mind and ended the call.
Samantha and I waited in the lobby for about fifteen minutes and then we saw Shon and the family getting off the elevator. After embracing, I led everyone to the beach where a candlelight dinner was set up and a band was on standby.
“This is so beautiful, but why so formal?” Shon asked looking confused.
“It’s Christmas Eve girl. I had to do a little something different.” I lied.
As the server took our drink orders, the band began to play:
Tomorrow will come and girl I can't wait it's our anniversary, anniversary.
The first thing I'll do is run straight to you it's our anniversary, anniversary.
It's our anniversary; it’s our anniversary, anniversary. It's

our anniversary; it’s our anniversary, made for you and me.
And I've only made plans to hold your little hand it's our anniversary, anniversary.
