Part 2

Yes, I was irritated that our mood was interrupted, but at the same time I knew what it was. I made a mental note that I was going to start pulling myself away from Jimmy before it was too late. I couldn’t get my heart broken once again. I needed to have the upper hand on this one, but not tonight.

“What’s wrong baby?” I asked while rubbing Jimmy’s head and placing kisses on his neck.

“It’s not important right now.” Jimmy responded as he turned back on the music in hopes of getting back in the mood.

I sat back and allowed him to take center stage again and entertain me with his shenanigans. Slow jams continued to sound through the house as the night progressed. He eventually lead me to the bedroom where he made sweet love to me. Well, okay maybe we just fucked but in my mind, I was his only woman and he made love to me. Boy, the things that man could do with his tongue. Ummm! The thought of having to share that with Shon really infuriated me. If I left this man alone, would I find someone else to satisfy my mind, body and soul the way that Jimmy could? Probably so, but the truth of the matter is, I wanted Jimmy.

Ring. Ring. Ring.

This pussy had Jimmy’s ass sleeping so hard that he never heard my cell phone ringing. When I saw “besty” flash across my phone, I rolled over slowly not to wake my boo up. I tiptoed to the living room so that I could talk to Shon without having to whisper. Immediately, I put on my best friend hat and said “Hey girl.”

“Hey Laila. Are you busy?” Shon said in a wimper.

“No hun. What’s the matter? Are you crying?” I pretended to be concerned even though I’m sure it had something to do with our man.

“Girl, I’m so pissed off. I talk to James earlier today and he told me that he would be working late so he couldn’t come over tonight. Even though I was pissed, I let it go. But here’s the kicker. I tried to call his muthafuckin ass about an hour ago and he didn’t answer his phone. After that, I face timed his ass. Still no answer; nor did I get a reply to the text message that I sent. So you know me…I pulled a drive by on dat ass. How about his car was not home. Laila, it’s almost mid-night. He can’t make me believe he was still at the office.” Shon cried out.

“Just calm down baby girl. I am sure that he has a logical explanation for not being home right now. Girl, that man loves you and you’re about to be his wife. You’re going to have to learn to trust him.” I responded not believing a damn thing I was saying.

“You’re right girl. He does love me and I know he would never do anything to jepordize what we have.” Shon said as her mood started to change.

“Yes. So wipe those tears and go to bed. I’m sure he’ll be calling you once he sees that he missed your calls.”

“You’re right. That’s for listening. Laila, what would I do without you in my life?” Shon smiled.

“You will never have to know.” I smiled back and disconnected the line.

I knew in my heart that we wouldn’t be best friends forever because eventually, I was going to have to pull away from Shon also. My heart won’t be able to stand the pain of watching my best friend live happily ever after with the man that I love. Shaking those thoughts out of my head, I returned to the bedroom, this time not giving a damn if I made noise. I went over to where Jimmy was laying and nudged him to get up. Not realizing that he feel asleep like always, he wiped his eyes and raised up. He must have thought that I was ready for round two because he grabbed me by my waist and pulled me down on top of him.

“Jimmy, I just got off the phone with our fiancée.” I joked.

“What I told you about saying that stupid shit, Laila?” Jimmy scowled his face as though he was scolding his child.

“Well, what else would you call this love triangle?” I continued to mock.

Jimmy blew me off and began putting his clothes on as I stepped into the bathroom to run myself a bath. I’m assuming that he checked his messages because as I was walking back into the bedroom I called his name not realizing that he was on the phone. He quickly turned around and put his finger up to his lip signaling for me to shut the hell up then put the phone on speaker so he could get dressed. I rolled my eyes and start pulling out some clothes to put on after my bath. I chuckled to myself as I heard him say, “That’s nobody baby. It was just one of the security officers at the building trying to see how much longer he was going to be.”

“Baby, you mean to tell me that you’re still at work?” Shon asked.

“Yes. I told you I’ve been working on a big project and if we win the bid, I will get the promotion that I’ve been working so hard for.” Jimmy continued his lies.

He started stuttering for a minute because I purposely undressed right in front of him. I bent all the way over to pick up my clothes knowing he couldn’t resist. When I looked back at him, his dick was saluting me so I turned around and placed kisses on it.

“Ba-ba-baby. Let me um. Let me um. Oohh. Let me call you back.” Jimmy barely got the words out.

“What are you doing?” Shon screamed.

“Nothing baby. I thought I heard something. It scared the shit out of me because my floor is empty.” Jimmy tried to fake laugh.

“Okay baby. Well, I will see you tomorrow.” Shon sound at peace with the lie.

“Ok.”
